Late-night comedian John Oliver offers Clarence Thomas $1 million a year and a $2.4 million bus to “get the Supreme Court off his back.”
Oliver makes Thomas an offer
The Daily Mail reported that Oliver made the offer during Sunday night’s episode of his HBO show “Last Week Tonight,” giving Thomas just thirty days to accept it. This came after an investigation revealed that Thomas allegedly failed to declare dozens of lavish trips and expenses paid for by Republican billionaire Harlan Crow.
“There’s a lot on your plate right now, from the abolition of women’s rights to the hearings on the cases on January 6th… and you deserve a break, you know, away from the pettiness of Washington,” Oliver began. “So you can be surrounded by normal people whose lives you have made demonstrably worse for decades.”
“So this is the offer. A million dollars a year, Clarence. And a brand new condo on wheels. And all you have to do in return is sign the contract and get the Supreme Court off your back,” Oliver continued. “Talk about it to your best friend in the world. Because the clock starts now. Thirty days, Clarence… Let’s do it!”
Without stopping there, Oliver continued to double down.
“I think you’re thinking, what would my friend say if I accepted this offer? Will they judge me as they sit in their boardrooms, mega yachts and Hitler shrines? Will they still give me luxury vacations and sing songs about me from their phones? Oliver said. “Well, that’s the beauty of friendship, Clarence. If they are true friends, they will love you no matter what your job is. So I guess this could be the perfect way to find out who your true friends really are. “

Thomas’ investigation
This came after ProPublica discovered that Thomas had failed to disclose luxury trips and other perks he received from conservative billionaire Crow. The publication’s investigation concluded that Crow had paid about $100,000 in tuition to Thomas’ great-nephew, whom Justice was raising like a son, to attend Hidden Lake Academy and Randolph-Macon Academy, a military school attended by the billionaire himself .
ProPublica also found that Crow had purchased the house where Thomas’ mother lived, as well as two other properties on the same block. In 1984, Thomas inherited one-third of the three properties, his mother’s residence and two other homes in Savannah, Georgia. In 2014, Crow, “a longtime friend of Filer and his wife,” purchased the homes for $133,000, simultaneously purchasing other properties on the street.
“Filer and his wife had invested between $50,000 and $75,000 in his mother’s home in capital improvements over the years and, therefore, the transaction amounted to a capital loss,” the disclosure read.

Oliver claims that what he is doing is legal
Fox News reported that Oliver claims he spoke with legal experts who allegedly assured him he wasn’t breaking any laws by offering to pay Thomas.
“Which seems crazy to me because I really feel like it shouldn’t be that way. But as they keep pointing out, there are no rules in place that stop me from doing so. And let me be clear: HBO is not putting any money into this. Personally I’m in trouble,” he said. “You can really make me regret this. I could do standup tours to pay for your pension for years.
“Clarence Thomas is arguably the most important judge on the court right now, and he never really seemed to enjoy the job. He said, “The pain isn’t worth doing.” What if he could maintain the luxury benefits he clearly enjoys without having to endure all that pain? “If you watch our show, you know jokes aren’t really our thing. This is real. A million dollars a year until you or I die.
There is no one that liberals despise more than a black conservative, as their very existence undermines the left’s claim that all Republicans are inherently racist, which is why Thomas has been a target of the left for decades. Thomas has yet to respond to Oliver’s offer, and we highly doubt he’ll even decide to give it a look.
