Liberals are celebrating the death of country music star Toby Keith, who died Monday at age 62 after a long battle with stomach cancer, by harking back to his feud with the Dixie Chicks.
Keith’s feud with Natalie Maines
“Toby Keith passed away peacefully last night, February 5th, surrounded by his family. He fought his battle with grace and courage. Please respect his family’s privacy at this time,” Keith’s family said in a brief statement announcing his death.
Throughout his career, Keith was known for releasing music that was both patriotic and masculine, scoring hits such as “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue,” “I Love This Bar” and “Should’ve Been a Cowboys”. Unfortunately, this made him a frequent target of liberals who despised the American values he proudly defended.
In 2002, Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks spoke out against Keith’s song “Courtesy of the Red White and Blue”, describing the hit single as “ignorant”.
“I hate it… It makes country music sound ignorant. It targets an entire culture – and not just bad people who have done bad things,” he said of the song to the Los Angeles Daily News. “You have to have a little tact. Anyone can write, “We’re going to put a boot in your ass.” But many agree.”
Keith responded months later, telling CMT.com, “I’m a singer-songwriter. She’s not. She can say my song is ignorant, so it’s ignorant of her to say that because she’s not a songwriter.
Maines went on to attend the ACM Awards wearing a T-shirt that read “FUTK” – “F*** You Toby Keith.” His publicist later claimed that the letters on the shirt stood for “freedom, understanding, tolerance, knowledge,” but no one believed it.
“Only Natalie can tell us why she wore it,” said Jay Orr, senior editor of the Country Music Hall of Fame. “I have no idea why she was wearing it. We can speculate about her motivations, but that would be a mistake.”

Keith’s alleged feud with Kris Kristofferson
Others brought up Keith’s alleged political feud with Kris Kristofferson at Willie Nelson’s birthday party in 2003. Legend has it that when Keith approached Nelson to wish him a happy birthday, he saw Kristofferson and said, “None of that lefty crap there tonight, Kris”
“What the fuck did you just tell me?” Kristofferson responded, according to Outsider. “Have you ever worn your country’s uniform?”
“You heard the question, you just don’t like the answer,” Kristofferson continued. “Have you ever served your country? The answer is no, you didn’t. Have you ever killed another man? Huh? Have you ever taken another man’s life and then cashed the check your country gave you for doing so? No you haven’t. So shut up!”
Keith would later deny that this exchange ever occurred.
“Kris and I are good friends and have been close to working on a couple of projects,” Keith said in 2009. “I don’t have to defend myself on this. This is 100% fiction. And I would bet a million dollars on a lie detector test that that didn’t happen.
“You know, when I call someone, I say their name,” he added. “So, you can talk to Kris and you can talk to Willie. … They’ll all laugh and say that didn’t happen. … Someone is trying to insert novels into any magazine to create a story. But if anyone has anything to look into the matter further, I’m available. …They can find out the truth.”
Despite this, the left attempted to rework this alleged feud after Keith’s death:

It should be noted that Keith dared to perform at Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration in 2017, an unforgivable sin in the eyes of the left. It’s a shame that the left is now celebrating Keith’s death by bringing up old feuds when he was such a patriot who simply loved this country with all his heart.
Rest in peace, Toby Keith.
