As previously reported, several Minnesota police officers were shot while responding to a domestic incident in Burnsville, near the 12600 block of 33rd Avenue South.
Two police officers and a paramedic were killed.
Several children were reportedly in the home at the time of the shooting.
SWAT officers were present on site. The SWAT vehicle had bullet holes in the windshield.
“Several Burnsville police officers were shot – at least two officers and a first responder were killed – while responding to a domestic call.” – Fox 9 reported.
Governor Tim Walz released a statement on the fatal shooting.
“Horrible news from Burnsville. While responding to a call of a family in distress, two police officers and a firefighter lost their lives and other officers were injured,” said Governor Walz. “We must never take for granted the courage and sacrifices our police officers and first responders make every day. My heart goes out to their families today and the entire state of Minnesota stands with Burnsville.”

Deceased officers were also named. Agent Paul Elmstrand he started in a law enforcement exploratory program and served in the police Honor Guard. Agent Matthew Ruge he was a trained crisis negotiator. Adam Finseththe firefighter/paramedic was an Iraq War veteran.
The policeman’s killer was killed during the shootout. Shannon Gooden previously shared a quote on Facebook: “You’ll never take me alive. I’m a tiger.
Following the horrific mass murder, police identified the killer as Shannon Cortez Gooden, 38, previously convicted of felony assault.
