If New York City has so much money to spend on illegal immigrants, why are there homeless veterans? Why are there homeless people?
Millions of hard-working Americans live on far less than New York spends on illegal border crossings.

New York City spends $387 per day per migrant to provide housing and food
According to data from New York City Hall, New York City spends approximately $387 per migrant per day to provide food and shelter for the city’s 64,800 migrants.
The February number was down $5 from the October count, when the city was home to 65,400 migrants. That number peaked in November, reaching $391 per day per migrant. These numbers do not reflect the cost of other services such as medical care and education.
“For the past two months, Mayor Adams has laid out plans to save billions of taxpayer dollars as New York City manages a national humanitarian crisis, and the numbers show our efforts are working,” a City Hall spokesperson told The New York Post Tuesday.
He also said the city expects to “save $2.3 billion by next summer.” Mayor Eric Adams is seeking to reduce the daily cost per migrant to $352 by fiscal year 2025.
The New York Post reports that illegal immigrants are being offered plane and bus tickets to leave New York, but none of them take up the offer. They don’t want to leave New York. Is there any wonder why?

Migrants kicked out of the Big Apple’s overflowing shelter system said Tuesday they are rejecting the city’s offer of free plane tickets or bus rides out of town because it’s too difficult to start over elsewhere.
Of the more than two dozen asylum seekers The Post spoke to outside a shelter in the East Village, most said they preferred to stay and try their luck in New York City, even if it meant spending multiple weeks without a bed in a shelter.
“Why leave here and start all over again?” said Jesus Hernandez, 40, of Venezuela, adding that he expects to wait four days to a week to find out where he will live next.
Some have joked that the dating scene is what keeps them here.
“I want a job. I want to stay. I also want a wife,” said a Senegalese migrant, who wished to remain anonymous.
The amount of money spent on these people is obscene.
