Sen. Katie Britt’s State of the Union rebuttal was so bad that top Republicans are trashing it. Even worse, that wasn’t Senator Britt’s real voice.

No, that wasn’t Katie Britt’s voice. Alabama’s freshman senator doesn’t usually talk like that.
This is what Katie Britt said in her rebuttal:

Republicans continue to make the same mistake with the SOTU rebuttal. Under Donald Trump, Republicans choose someone who they think resembles a demographic they want to reach without considering whether that person has experience and can deliver an effective message to the nation without becoming an SNL skit and ruining their career.

“What the hell am I looking at right now?” a Trump adviser asked, eyeing Britt.
“Disturbing,” one Republican pollster observed.
A lawyer working in Trump’s orbit says the show reminded them of public access television, and a senior House congressional aide points out that it was “cringe-inducing” to watch and probably destined to be made into a “lame duck.” [Saturday Night Live] skit” this weekend.
And by lame, the aforementioned Republican means very funny and defines pop culture.
Either she was nervous, or Britt had decided to use that voice herself. In any case, it wasn’t her real voice, and it’s a disaster that Republicans are trying to fix.
