A new poll shows that a criminal conviction in Manhattan would severely hurt and potentially doom Trump’s presidential bid.
Politico asked Ipsos to poll the American people on Trump’s criminal cases and the Supreme Court, and they found some very bad news for Trump with the Independents.
This is what Politico reported:
A plurality of respondents – 44% – said a conviction in Manhattan would have no impact on their likelihood of supporting Trump for president, but that’s not all.

Among respondents who said a conviction would influence their decision, the numbers were not good for Trump.
…
By a margin of more than 2 to 1, respondents said a conviction would make them less likely to support Trump (32%) versus more likely (13%). Notably, more than a third of independents said this would reduce their likelihood of supporting Trump. Not surprisingly, the vast majority of respondents who said a conviction would bolster their support were Republicans.
A felony conviction in Manhattan would make Trump virtually ineligible
Trump failed to win back Nikki Haley voters who voted against him in the Republican presidential primaries. The former president appears to have the support of only about 65%-70% of Republicans, so he is teetering on the edge of being unelectable. Many of these Republicans may hold their noses and vote for Trump in November.
If Trump were convicted in Manhattan and a third of independents voted him out, it could potentially ruin his campaign, as the Republican Party would find itself in a situation where it would have a candidate who can’t get enough potential voters to support him. .
Donald Trump becomes virtually ineligible if he is convicted of a crime.
It is now clear that the Republican argument that criminal cases help Trump is a complete fantasy. A Trump criminal conviction would severely damage his campaign.
Voters may not be sure about the election yet, but they already know that many won’t vote for a convicted felon in November.
and they move or pack their bags and put an end to this investigation.
