The Easter Egg Art Contest is part of the White House’s annual Easter traditions.
But this year, religious-themed eggs will not be allowed. Although Easter is a very religious holiday.
That’s right, nothing about faith – for EASTER!

Easter without God?
Fox News reported, “National Guard children banned from submitting religious Easter egg drawings for 2024 ‘Celebrating National Guard Families’ art event at White House.”
“The art contest is part of the White House’s Easter traditions, which include the annual Easter Egg Roll,” Fox News noted. “The contest flyer states that Easter egg design submissions “must not include objectionable content, religious symbols, overtly religious themes, or partisan political statements.”
The story continued:
“As part of the White House’s Easter traditions, American egg farmers have – for nearly 50 years – proudly presented an intricately decorated commemorative Easter egg to the First Lady of the United States. In 2021, the White House expanded this long-standing tradition by displaying youth-designed Easter eggs in the East Colonnade of the White House,” the flyer explains.
“On behalf of First Lady Jill Biden, the Adjutants General of the National Guard are asking youth from National Guard families across the United States and all U.S. territories to submit artwork inspired by the theme of ‘Celebrating Our Military Families,’” the flyer continues.
Children are asked to draw eggs with images based on their lives. “Selected drawings representing the unique experiences and stories of National Guard children will be brought to life on real chicken eggs by talented egg artists from across the country and displayed at the White House during Easter and Passover,” the flyer says.

Not the only banned topics
There is also a whole list of other prohibitions.
“Children also may not promote material that promotes “bigotry, racism, hatred or harm against any group or individual or promotes discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age” in their projects, Fox News reported.
A lot of those things you obviously wouldn’t want involved in the contest.
But do they have to become so leftist preachy about it?
The idea of freedom of religion and speech, both protected by our First Amendment, is to allow many faiths and ideas to thrive, not eliminate them.
Having artistic content on the Easter egg that prohibits religious themes is not only absurd – the only reason the holiday exists is to celebrate what Christians believe to be the resurrection of Jesus Christ after he was crucified – it is an affront to the American ideal of freedom of religion itself. .
Perhaps we will have several occupants of the White House next Easter.
