The White House sent a new memo at noon Monday highlighting the hypocrisy of House Republicans forcing the unconstitutional impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas while blocking the bipartisan border bill they requested.
“This effort is a complete waste of time that constitutional and legal experts have called ‘unconstitutional’ and that even Senate Republicans have made clear they do not want to focus on,” said White House spokesman for oversight and investigations Ian Sams. in a note sent to PoliticusUSA.
“But the worst part is that extremist Republicans pushed this foolish and baseless stunt at the same time they killed a real bipartisan border security bill that would address challenges at the border and provide needed resources to DHS,” the note continues.
The memo cites several experts who say impeachment is unconstitutional – from an open letter from 25 constitutional law experts to House Republican’s own impeachment witness Jonathan Turley.

But it is Frank Bowman, a University of Missouri professor and constitutional law scholar, who highlights the point that stands out, which is that Republicans ultimately impeached mayors because they don’t like President Biden’s border policies.
“There is no indication that I am aware of that Secretary Mayorkas has committed treason or corruption,” Bowman said. “In the words of the great impeachment scholar Charles Black, ‘Whatever the grounds for impeachment and removal, aversion to a president’s policies is certainly not one of them.’ political disagreements are not only contrary to long-standing constitutional understanding, but are useless from a practical point of view.”
The big issue here for conservatives and Republicans is that the people elected Joe Biden president and they have a right to get the policies they voted for. Not only that, but Democrats have given Republicans about 80% of what they asked for in the border bill, so Republicans are already hijacking government from a position of a tiny majority in the House, with the Senate and White House in control democratic.
HUMANITARIAN BORDER AGAINST DELIBERATE CRUELTY
The big problem that Republicans don’t want to talk about, other than the fact that they refused to pass the border bill that gave them 80% of what they asked for because Donald Trump wants the border in chaos so he can run against the government. The chaos his party is exacerbating is that they don’t like the humanitarian aspect of President Biden’s border policies.
Biden does not want to shoot migrants crossing the border, unlike Governor Abbott. Biden does not want to deliberately separate families or inflict other types of permanent trauma on people trying to escape violence and political upheaval.
Republicans disagree with Biden’s humanitarian priorities regarding US border policies and are actively seeking to worsen the border for political gain. They have admitted they won’t work to address the border because it would help Biden politically.
This highlights the unconstitutional impeachment of Mayorkas even more, because it shows a vile abuse of humanity for political purposes and a complete disregard for the will of the people.
THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE
It is frankly disturbing how little consideration Republicans show for the will of the majority of Americans, who elected President Biden in the most secure election in modern history, and how the media treats this as the right of Republicans.
Note that no one in the mainstream media is tracking down Democrats at a Detroit restaurant to ask how they feel about their president being undermined by a House with a majority so slim that it requires Democrats to bail them out when it comes to making the their real job. jobs. No, these voters don’t matter, and in fact, their votes don’t even seem to matter to many in the mainstream media.
Republicans impeached the Mayorkas across the border after they refused to fund the border at required levels as more people are trying to cross the border, many of them seeking political asylum, and walked away from a bill bipartisan.
REPUBLICAN DEFENSE
The Republican defense for this outrageously undemocratic behavior is that Democrats did it to Trump.
So yes, Democrats impeached former President Donald Trump. They first impeached him for withholding congressionally approved funds from Ukraine in an effort to extort the country into producing dirt on Trump’s political opponent, Joe Biden.
Democrats impeached Trump for a second time after he incited a deadly insurrection at the US Capitol in an attempt to overturn the election he lost.
What do these two Trump impeachments have to do with Republicans impeaching mayors after wasting endless resources trying to find something to impeach Joe Biden for? All three of these impeachments are the result of the Republicans taking power, not given to them by the voters.
SERIOUS
Republicans are using impeachment to appear serious about the border:
“Now, they want people to think they are serious on the border by pushing a baseless impeachment effort that legal scholars say is unconstitutional,” Sams wrote. “Instead of these political stunts, congressional Republicans should work with President Biden to actually address this issue in a bipartisan way. It’s time to stop playing these stupid games.”
NO REAL WORK
Of course, the Republicans will not stop their political maneuvering because that is their sole purpose. House Republicans no longer have real jobs. They are not there to do the hard work of setting a budget or negotiating with anyone, especially people with different ideas than theirs.
House Republicans are being paid by US taxpayers to put on political theater to aid Donald Trump, including their apparent attempts to impeach Hunter Biden, who is obviously not an elected official and over whom they actually have no jurisdiction. extent to which I took it.
But it’s not silly at all. Indeed, it is an enormous affront to voters, too many of whom have overcome massive voter suppression efforts to vote. Voters go to all this trouble to show up only to see Republicans spit on their choice again and again, whether it’s trying to overturn the most secure election in history or holding the theater of impeachment for purely political purposes.
Once again, Republicans are refusing to work with Democrats and instead undermining the authority that voters have given them, in what increasingly appears to be a shadow presidency effort in many respects.
QUIET BETRAYAL?
The behavior of the MAGA caucus in the U.S. House is approaching a form of subtle betrayal. Maybe we’ll call it Quite Treason.
They are overthrowing the government as if the people are leaving quietly. They are simply not giving the full power that the people have given to President Biden, because they don’t want to share power and they don’t respect American voters.
