Rep. Massie (R-KY) told reporters, “I asked him to resign and what he said was he wouldn’t do it. And then I said, well, you’re the one who’s going to get us involved in this because the motion will pass. All right. The motion will pass and then lose more votes than Kevin McCarthy and I told him in private, weeks ago.
CNN’s Manu Raju wrote it when the motion is presented Johnson will have to rely on the Democrats to save his seat:
This means that – following Gallagher’s resignation – Johnson would almost certainly need the Democrats to save his job if the motion to oust him were to be put to a vote.
Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz says he would save Mike Johnson’s job if MTG files a motion to oust him.
Others, like Democratic Congressman Tom Suozzi, have also said they will vote to save Johnson
“The Democrats won’t even let her rename the post offices, I won’t let her make a motion to vacate,” Moskowitz told me.
House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) said Democrats will bail out Johnson if he does the right thing and passes a bill to help Ukraine. Anything less, and Democrats won’t help save his job.
The motion to vacate will happen. Once Representative Greene formally introduces it, the House will have to vote within two legislative days.
Mike Johnson could lose his job because Putin’s GOP wants to block all aid to Ukraine.
If Johnson does well on Ukraine, Democrats will help him. If not, Democrats will let House Republicans drag the body back into chaos.
