South Korea leads Asian stocks higher in early trading

U.S. stocks were lower in early afternoon trading Monday, with declines in consumer discretionary, industrials and technology stocks offsetting gains in energy stocks.

The S&P 500 index on Wall Street lost 0.1%. Consumer discretionary, industrials and technology were the benchmark’s worst performing sectors, down 0.5%, 0.4% and 0.3% respectively. The energy sector remained the best.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite rose 0.1%.

Government bonds weakened as yields rose. The yield on the monetary policy-sensitive two-year Treasury note rose 0.03 percentage point to 4.63 percent, while the yield on the benchmark 10-year bond rose 0.04 percentage point to 4. 26%.
