Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said Thursday evening that his office has opened an investigation into Spirit AeroSystems (NYSE:SPR), citing “recurring problems” with some aircraft parts supplied to Boeing (BA).
Spirit AeroSystems (SPR) produces fuselages for Boeing (BA) 737, and the Texas AG’s office said apparent manufacturing defects on some 737 models have led to “numerous concerning or dangerous accidents, some of which occurred in flight.”
Paxton said his office has directed Spirit AeroSystems (SPR) to produce documents related to manufacturing defects in their products, as well as documents related to its diversity, equity and inclusion commitments and whether those commitments are compromising manufacturing processes of the company.
Shares of Spirit AeroSystems (SPR) closed Thursday at $36.07, up 26% over the past month and the highest closing price in nearly two years.
