Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s motion to vacate gave Democrats some leverage over President Mike Johnson to get aid to Ukraine approved.
Greene’s motion to vacate is because she is outraged that 2/3 of the House passed a bill to maintain government funding.
House Democrats have been ready for weeks for Greene to make good on her threat.
During a March 10, 2024 appearance on CBS’s Face The Nation, House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries suggested that Democrats would be willing to help Johnson keep his job if he introduced a relief bill in the House. Ukraine.

Rep. Jeffries said when asked how Democrats would vote if a vacate motion came to the House, “I made the observation that I believe there is a reasonable number of members, if the president were to do the right thing, that I don’t don’t think it should fall because of that.
In other words, if Johnson wants to keep his job, he must bring a Ukraine aid bill to the House for a vote.
The end result of Greene’s attempt to oust Johnson may well be the flow of aid to Ukraine that she opposes.
Speaker Johnson will likely need Democratic votes if she moves forward with the vacate motion.
Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-NY) told CNN why he would vote against the eviction motion: “Because it’s absurd. He will be expelled because he did the right thing. Get open government maintained. He has the support of two-thirds of Congress, and the idea of him being chased away by these buffoons is absurd.”

If Mike Johnson wants to keep his job, he’d better give the Democrats what they want, because Marjorie Taylor Greene is ready to kick him to the curb.
