The Atlantic: Without guidance from SCOTUS, House Democrats may not certify election if Trump wins | The Gateway Expert

The liberal newspaper The Atlantic reports that unless they receive “guidance” from the US Supreme Court, House Democrats may not certify the 2024 election if Trump wins.

Isn’t this the entire basis for the January 6 Democratic/media panic? Isn’t this why so many Trump supporters are currently suffering in prison? Aren’t these the same Democrats who have been shouting about the importance of “our democracy” for years now?

It really seems like their entire political philosophy boils down to nothing that matters unless they win.

From the Atlantic:

How Democrats Could Disqualify Trump If the Supreme Court Doesn’t

Without clear guidance from the Court, House Democrats suggest they may not certify Trump’s victory on January 6.

Murray and other legal scholars say that, in the absence of clear guidance from the Supreme Court, a Trump victory could lead to a constitutional crisis in Congress. Democrats would have to choose between confirming a winner many of them say is ineligible or defying the will of the voters who elected him. Their choice could be decisive: As their victory in the House special elections in New York last week showed, Democrats have a serious chance of winning a majority in Congress in November, even if Trump regains the presidency on the same day. If that happened, they might have the votes to block him from taking office.

In interviews, House Democrats would not commit to certifying Trump’s victory, saying they would only do so if the Supreme Court upheld his eligibility. But during oral arguments, both liberal and conservative justices seemed inclined to sidestep the question of his eligibility altogether and refer the decision to Congress.

Democrats: heads we win, tails we lose.
