The coups have consequences when John Eastman is disbarred

Former Trump lawyer and coup architect John Eastman can no longer practice law in California.

The New Republic reported:

It’s official: John Eastman, Trump’s former lawyer, can no longer practice law in California pending his appeal through the state courts.

As of Tuesday, Eastman is listed as “unfit to practice law” on the California State Bar website. The move comes three days after Judge Yvette Roland of the California State Bar recommended that Eastman’s law license be placed on “involuntary inactive” status.

Eastman’s disbarment was recommended by a judge last week. Eastman can appeal through the California court system, but such appeals are unlikely to be successful. Odds are, it’s unlikely Eastman will ever practice law in the state again. There are 49 other states where he could become licensed, but bar associations typically don’t welcome disbarred lawyers with open arms.

Odds are, Eastman ended up as a licensed attorney, as he is yet another example of someone who did Trump’s bidding and took the blame for the criminal scheme, while Trump has thus far escaped consequences.

Disbarment isn’t worth as much as prison time, but attempting to overthrow the government should have consequences.
