The jury has been sworn in at Trump’s secret trial, as deliberations could begin on Monday.
NBC’s Lisa Rubin reported:
NEW: As I predicted today, we now have a jury of 12 and an alternate. We are moving to the alternative process; Merchan ordered that all the remainder of today’s pool of 96 be included in the next round of jury questionnaires and voir dire.

MSNBC Deadline: White House discussed future timeline: “We still have to get through alternates tomorrow. And I will say this very carefully, the jury has been sworn in. Some may come tomorrow and say they have changed their minds and are concerned about this and we may go back to ten. What happens is still constantly changing. But for now we have a jury and then we will see how we will be in the end. And if the trial goes forward, it looks like we could have opening arguments Monday morning and remember that Monday court sits until the same as two o’clock on Tuesday and then it’s dark on Wednesday. So it will be more or less like this, if it goes ahead on Monday morning.

Opening arguments could begin Monday, and when the ball starts rolling, Trump will move closer to sentencing. Unless other jurors ask to be excused, the trial is on track. Trump has publicly expressed his belief that he would get some rulings in his favor that would prevent the Manhattan trial from taking place.
Trump was wrong. The former president will stand trial and could soon be the first former president in U.S. history to be convicted.
