President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump dominated the Super Tuesday primaries. It is increasingly likely, if not certain, that they will face each other in the 2024 presidential election.
This reality is pushing Democrats to “hit the panic button,” according to a new report from The Hill.
Interestingly, that body’s analysis finds two factors that are creating consternation among the left: the weakness of their candidate ahead of 2024 and the fact that Trump’s campaign is not falling apart as they had predicted.
“Democrats are starting to hit the panic button as the implosion in former President Trump’s campaign fails to materialize and a slew of polls suggest President Biden is weaker than he was four years ago,” they write.
The implosion referred to is the numerous investigations and criminal charges brought against Trump by the Biden administration or Democratic attorneys general.
“Many Democrats thought Trump’s legal problems would overwhelm him, but on Monday the Supreme Court, in a unanimous decision, ruled in his favor on a 14th Amendment case,” writes The Hill. “Other high-profile trials have been delayed, raising questions about whether they will reach verdicts before Election Day.”

Another Trump-Biden race is giving Democrats indigestion
It is perfectly understandable to analyze the race from the perspective of President Biden as a weak candidate. Much weaker than it was even in 2020. Or for that matter strategy in trying to woo votes from battleground states.
And, indeed, The Hill does they mention polls in many of these states providing bad news for Biden, much to the delight of the Trump campaign.
What is most surprising is the admission that the Democratic Party relied heavily on the legal system. Not the electoral system.
AND That gives minimal credence to those critics who suggest that these criminal activities were intentionally designed to interfere in the 2024 presidential election.
The report quotes Senator Peter Welch (D-VT) who appeared outraged by the Supreme Court’s decision to review presidential immunity.
This move, as reported by The Political Insider, creates a potential delay in Trump’s trial until After the lesson.
Welch fumed, saying the decision was “outrageous,” while insisting there is “no excuse for it.”
Worse than the fact that it is not Trump who is imploding, but the cases against him I amit is the idea that in reality the result is that the former president appears stronger than before.
David Axelrod, former senior policy advisor to President Obama, drew on this idea.
“All these accusations, all these lawsuits and so on, gave him a chance to seem indomitable, strong, resilient, and that somehow helped him,” he lamented.

Court cases are imploding, Trump is not
Efforts by Democratic-led states to keep Trump off the ballot also failed spectacularly at the Supreme Court.
The unanimous decision in the Colorado election highlights how weak the legal arguments were against the former president. This once again raises concerns that they were pursued almost exclusively as a means to eliminate Biden’s biggest political opponent.
But wait, there’s more.
“The biggest concern for Democrats is that the criminal cases brought against Trump by Special Counsel Jack Smith in Washington and Miami and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis in Georgia are stuck in limbo and may not be resolved by day of the elections,” writes The Hill. .
They put all their eggs in that basket of deplorables and they all get smashed one after another.
It’s the economy, stupid
The article also notes that Democrats believe they are struggling to get President Biden across the finish line in the race against Trump because, as they often argue, Americans simply don’t understand that the economy is really good right now.
“Voters seem to focus on the data that is least favorable to Democrats and highlight it, tending to downplay the things that are in the pipeline that will have a pretty substantial benefit to the American economy,” Ross K. Baker, professor emeritus of political science at Rutgers University, he told the outlet.
Biden is trailing Trump in the polls of several battleground states, and the resistance party thinks it’s your fault for ignoring all the good things the White House has done for you.
