Disney is new X-Men ’97 the cartoon will feature a “non-binary” character.
The show will be rated TV-14.
According to Bounding Into Comics, “showrunner Beau DeMayo revealed that, unlike the original series, the upcoming revival will portray the mutant mutant Morph as a non-binary individual.”
The report explains:
Unfortunately, while this awkward change is certainly disappointing, it can’t be said to be entirely unexpected.
After all, as DeMayo stated during a 2023 Marvel livestream event regarding the series, one of his goals with X-Men ’97 it was “doing things the right way and really delving into what I think the X-Men will always be, which is just, you know, we talk a lot about the dream is social acceptance and social justice.”
“I think that can sometimes make some people feel alienated and for me it will always come down to the X-Men and what we’re trying to do with this series is talk about the power of empathy.” , and how can it heal these wounds that pit people against each other,” she explained. “That things like racism and bigotry don’t ‘just exist’ – there’s a reason behind that why empathy can help us connect and build those bridges where we can actually say, ‘Hey, we’re all different, but we have these little things that can still bring us together.’”
Morph, a shapeshifter, originally appeared as male in the original series, although he could transform into characters of other genders as part of his abilities.
The character is also promoted as having an “interesting friendship with Wolverine.”
Idgaf whether Morph is binary or non-binary. What I have a problem with is if they push a Metamorphosis/Wolverine relationship for the sake of being woke and with Disney’s track record that’s pretty much what will end up happening ♂️. They will ruin Wolverine. DOA pic.twitter.com/dhrrAa2pfp
