The life of a Hollywood star can be tough in the sleigh. It is infinitely more difficult if you dare to abandon the Democratic plantation and fail to support President Biden.
Just ask WWE legend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The Rock went from being the darling of Tinsel Town to a pariah seemingly overnight.
His crime? Refuse to support the President. In reality, to be clear, he didn’t even get that far. He simply said that he would not support it Nobody this election cycle.
“The endorsement I made years ago with Biden was what I thought was the best decision for me at the time,” he said.
“So I thought… I’m in this position where I have some influence,” Johnson continued. “I felt that way then, now it’s my job to exert my influence and share this is who I support.”
“Will I do it again this year?” he responded when asked if he would support any candidate in particular. “The answer is no. I also realized that what he caused then, was something that tore at my insides then and now, which is division.

The Rock gets body slammed to the left
To reiterate, The Rock is not saying he regrets specifically endorsing Biden. He’s saying that he regrets taking a political stand and subsequently alienating half of his fans.
Which is a reasonable take by anyone’s measure. How many times do we say that we would like our athletes and entertainers to do it Not drag politics into their sport or entertainment?
But this is a bridge too far for the left. And their responses on social media are evidence of a clear disdain for The Rock’s decision.
First things first, ma’am. Subtle mint Vindman, wife of retired Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Subtle mint Vindmann.
“Do you know what also causes division? Fascism. Authoritarianism,” he writes on X. “Because if you don’t agree with the leader, they punish you. I honestly thought it was intelligent but I have dispelled this opinion.”
Poor syntax aside, Ms. Vindman seems blissfully unaware that the man The Rock championed in 2020 was the closest thing to an authoritarian this country has ever seen.
“If you don’t agree with the leader, do they punish you?” Did you say that with a straight face while Biden is actively throwing his political opponents in prison?

The anger continues
The angry message didn’t stop there. Matthew Dowd, the former GOP strategist turned MSNBC contributor who once — nay, twice — compared Americans worried about inflation to the Nazis, offered his take.
“How about we fight for democracy and unite the country around it? Loss of respect for you,” Dowd responded.
The Rock will surely be tossing and turning in his sleep over losing the respect of – check the notes – Rachel Vindman and Matthew Dowd. Other NBC critics also weighed in.
David Corn, of Mother Jones fame and MSNBC analyst, believes The Rock is now part of the “threat” against “democracy.”
NBC analyst Mike Murphy relaxed long enough to write that The Rock’s decision is “cowardly” and actually “is actually very simple.”
So here you have Never Trumper Karen and whatever message that is.
“So, @TheRock, what will you tell your daughter if Trump wins, gets raped and forced to carry the pregnancy to term?” she writes. “You’ll say, ‘Well, honey, couldn’t I use my enormous influence to support the one candidate who would protect you?’”
Read it again. Rock’s lack of support could lead to the rape of her daughter and it would be Trump’s fault. These are not healthy people. Can you even imagine being that far away mentally?
Imagine the level of intellectual gymnastics one must engage in to suggest that someone who wants to stay out of politics is a “threat to democracy.”
True fascists have no self-awareness.
