Yesterday, The Gateway Pundit reported that three US service members were killed and 34 wounded (update), of which 8 had to be transported to another location for treatment. The troops were reportedly sleeping in a tent when they were attacked by a UAS, or unmanned aerial system, late Saturday night.

Today, the Pentagon released the names of these three soldiers after a 24-hour period to first notify their families. According to WTXL Tallahassee, the members killed were:

  • Sergeant William Jerome Rivers, age 46 of Carrollton, Georgia
  • sp. Kennedy Ladon Sanders, 24, of Waycross, Georgia
  • sp. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett, 23, Savannah, Georgia

“These three fallen heroes were deployed to Jordan in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and the international coalition working to ensure the lasting defeat of ISIS,” Department of Defense deputy spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said during a news briefing Monday. “These brave Americans and their families are in our prayers and the entire Department of Defense vouches for their loss. We also pray for the speedy recovery of the wounded.”

The three individuals killed in action were all members of the 718th Engineer Company, a reservist unit from Fort Moore, Georgia.

Defense Department deputy spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said the eight members who needed to be medically evacuated were transported to the Diplomatic Support Center in Baghdad. Of the eight, three would be immediately transferred to the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. The other five suffered mild traumatic brain injuries, which are relatively common when in the vicinity of an explosion.

Please keep these brave soldiers in your prayers.
