Tom Selleck breaks his silence to talk about the impending conclusion of his CBS crime drama “Blue Bloods,” which will end after the current 14th season.

Selleck sounds out

The Daily Mail reported that Selleck, who turned 79 yesterday, made it clear that he is not yet ready to say goodbye to the “Blue Bloods”.

“CBS is going to find that a lot of people aren’t ready to say goodbye to her,” he told TV Insider. “The show is more popular than ever, and I think [numbers] will increase with interest this year. We are certainly not short of ideas.”

“I’m not counting the days until I can do something else. I love the work,” she added. “Sometimes the hours are a little harder because I’m older, but so what? I want to work as long as they’ll have me.”

Selleck also talked about his iconic “Blue Bloods” character, Frank Reagan, saying he “picks fights because he would like someone to take on the burden of that responsibility.” [off] his hands and fire him. But he has an overactive sense of responsibility and maintains it.”

Selleck proud of the “blue bloods”

When asked what he’s most proud of when it comes to his time on “Blue Bloods,” Selleck responded: “Playing a flawed but strong father.”

“On television and in commercials, dad is usually the idiot,” Selleck explained. “It’s not my mission on the show, but the result is an example of an important patriarch for the family. It’s becoming rarer and rarer in our culture.”

Selleck concluded by talking about how important the Reagan family’s weekly dinner was to the success of the show.

“It’s the audience’s favorite part,” he said. “When I saw the eight-page dinner scene in [exec producer] Leonard Goldberg’s pilot script, I said, “They’re going to cut it, right?” And he said, “No, that will be the focus of the show.” He was right.”

“He wants to relax at his ranch, walk around his property, spend time with his wife and family and travel a bit,” a source told Closer Magazine.

“Tom and Jillie can just sit at home, cook, go for a long walk and be very happy. He loves Jillie and trusts her to plan activities or travel plans,” the insider added. “He can’t wait to have more free time to spend with her.”

Selleck is also gearing up for the release of his memoir “You Never Know,” which comes out May 7.

“It’s not Hollywood gossip,” the source explained. “He’s sharing his (entertainment) experiences (and stories about how he met) some big stars and how they influenced him, and what he learned.”
