Trump gets some welcome news… from Detroit

Michigan became a swing state that split the presidential pick in 2016 and 2020, largely based on Detroit votes.

The city could once again represent an important pivot in the elections. Recently, during a focus group with metro Detroit voters, Joe Biden’s age was a significant issue for participants.

And a reason why Donald Trump led the current president with the group.

Age continues to be an issue for Biden

The focus group held Tuesday revealed that undecided voters in Metro Detroit are unsure whether, at Biden’s age, he is fit for the job.

Axios reported: “Voters are concerned about Biden’s age and fitness, but none of those who participated in the focus group are concerned that he is a threat to democracy.

“While seven in 14 voters said they would describe former President Trump as a threat to democracy, 10 in 14 also said they would echo the twice-impeached president in voting for Biden again in 2024,” Axios noted .

Nearly everyone in the group agreed that Biden was in mental decline, and this focus group came after the president’s angry rebuttal to Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report that he was a “sympathetic, well-intentioned older man with a poor memory.” .

They also seemed to care more about Biden’s age than Trump’s legal problems.

The story continued:

Axios participated in two Engagious/Sago online focus groups Tuesday evening with 14 Michiganders who voted for Trump in 2016 and Biden in 2020.

Eight are independents and six are Republicans. Most are from cities in the Detroit metro area, and two are from Holland and Jackson.

While a focus group is not as statistically significant a sample as a poll, the responses show how some voters feel about current events.

A potential felony conviction didn’t stop most focus group participants from saying they would vote for Trump again.

It was clear that Trump’s accusations were not having the negative impact Democrats might have hoped for, but the Biden report was having a negative impact for Democrats.

“No one said they were troubled by Special Counsel Robert Hur’s decision not to press charges following his investigation into Biden’s handling of classified documents, despite a report released last week that the president’s actions posed “serious risks for national security,” Axios noted.

“The president rejected allegations of memory problems during a press conference after the investigation was released last week,” the article reads.

The elections are almost a year away. Many things can happen.

But Joe Biden isn’t getting younger or more virile.
