Trump is trying to delay the criminal trial in New York until SCOTUS rules on immunity

In a new statement filed in New York, Trump decided to adjourn the election interference and silence trial until the Supreme Court rules on his request for presidential immunity.

Trump’s lawyers wrote: “President Trump respectfully submits that a trial adjournment is appropriate pending further guidance from the Supreme Court, which should facilitate the appropriate application of the doctrine of presidential immunity in this case to evidence that the people intend to offer to the process”. . Following the Supreme Court’s guidance, and consistent with the remand in Blassingame, the Court should hold a hearing outside the presence of the jury to identify and preclude documentary and testimonial evidence of official acts based on presidential immunity.

This is all part of Trump’s delay strategy. His lawyers are using every case to give him more time. Polls have shown that a criminal conviction would be fatal to Trump’s general election campaign, so the former president is trying to drag everything out as far as possible beyond Election Day.

Everything Donald Trump is proposing and doing is an attempt to stall.

Trump’s legal team knows that the chances of the former president being found not guilty of 91 crimes in four different jurisdictions are slim to none. So, Trump’s only option is to delay the trials until after the 2024 election and hope he wins.

There is no strategy for victory. It is ideal because it delays because for Trump delay equals victory.
