Donald Trump spoke to the media Friday morning without realizing what he was saying, saying he was not allowed to speak to the media.

Trump spoke in the hallway before returning to the waiting room. Seemingly without a sense of irony, he told reporters: “They have taken away my constitutional right to speak and that includes speaking to you.”

If Trump’s constitutional right to speak is taken away, then how could he stand outside the courthouse and talk to reporters?
Trump creates his own reality and believes that if he repeats a lie often enough, people will accept it as the truth. But just like the former president’s lie that the trial is keeping him off the campaign trail, Friday’s lie is absurdly obvious to everyone but Trump.
The Trump campaign thought it could use the Manhattan trial to garner a lot of free media to benefit the Republican presidential campaign, but as we wrap up the first week of the criminal trial, https://www.politicususa.com/2024/04/ 18 /trump-melts-out-of-court-after-realizing-he-will-be-tried.htmlthis didn’t happen.
Media outside of Fox News and Newsmax quickly lost interest in Trump’s sidewalk theatrics, and the free media attention instead resulted from Trump’s habit of falling asleep in court.
The only thing Trump has earned this week is the nickname Sleepy Don.
Trump will likely hold his only weekly campaign event with voters on Saturday. He continues his pattern of non-campaigning that began with the Republican presidential primaries, which is a continuation of his 2020 reelection campaign.
Donald Trump can do, say or invent whatever reality he wants because he thinks the presidency will be handed to him. A man who has been given everything in life expects to receive 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in November.
