Donald Trump recently called on the US Senate to end all foreign investment and only allow the US to lend money to foreign countries, which would be a gift to Putin.
Trump posted on Truth Social:
FROM THIS POINT FORWARD, ARE YOU LISTENING TO THE UNITED STATES SENATE (?), NO MONEY IN THE FORM OF FOREIGN AID SHOULD BE GIVEN TO ANY COUNTRY UNLESS IT IS MADE AS A LOAN, NOT JUST A GIFT. IT CAN BE LOANED ON EXTRAORDINARY EXCELLENT CONDITIONS, SUCH AS NO INTEREST AND UNLIMITED LIFETIME, BUT STILL A LOAN. THE AGREEMENT SHOULD BE (CONTINGENT!) THAT THE UNITED STATES IS HELPING YOU, AS A NATION, BUT IF THE COUNTRY WE ARE HELPING TURN AGAINST US, OR GET RICH IN THE FUTURE, THE LOAN WILL BE PAID AND THE MONEY RETURNED TO THE STATES UNITED. WE SHOULD NEVER GIVE MONEY AGAIN WITHOUT THE HOPE OF A REFUND, OR WITHOUT “CONSTRAINTS”. THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA SHOULD NOT BE “STUPID” ANYMORE!
The real consequence of ending foreign aid would be to cut assistance to Ukraine. An end to US support for Ukraine is what Putin sought from the Republicans. Trump’s plan would also mean an end to aid to Israel and aid to developing nations and economies around the world.

Other major aid-receiving nations that would be cut off include Ethiopia, Afghanistan, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Uganda, Yemen, South Sudan, Congo and Kenya.
Trump’s plan would destroy American policy in the Middle East and open the door for Russia and China to exert even more unchecked influence in Africa.
Trump’s plan would be a gift to dictators and would destroy US foreign policy. It would be a dream come true for Putin and Xi and would make the United States weaker around the world.
Donald Trump does not understand foreign policy and his only goal seems to be to help Putin by sabotaging his own country.
