Trump’s attempt to disqualify Fani Willis fails

The effort by Trump and his allies to have Fani Willis removed from the RICO case fell apart at the latest hearing.

The moment that pretty much ended it all came when Mike Roman’s attorney, Ashleigh Merchant, tried to get Nathan Wade’s former law partner and divorce lawyer to testify about the timing of the Willis/Wade affair. The timing is key because the allegation is that Willis and Wade had an improper relationship from which Willis benefited financially.

However, star witness and Wade’s former law partner Terrence Bradley testified that he was unaware of what started the affair and was only speculating: “”I was speculating, I didn’t have a – nobody told me. I was speculating,”

The Trump defendants were unable to offer any evidence through testimony or otherwise that Willis engaged in an improper relationship from which she benefited.

The key witness blew up in their faces.

If this all sounds familiar, it should. The same thing happened to House Republicans trying to impeach President Biden.

Trump’s Republicans keep trying to talk their way through these situations, but each time it backfires and ends up doing more harm to those bringing the charges than to the accused.
