Controller Vuela Aviation Company, SAB de CV (NYSE:VLRS) said on Wednesday that its load factor in March rose 1.3 percentage points y/y to 86.8%.
The company reported a 15.8% year-over-year decrease in March capacity (measured in ASM), while demand (measured in RPM) fell 14.5%.
Volaris carried 2.3 million passengers in the month down by 18.1% compared to March 2023.
Demand for Mexican domestic RPMs decreased by 24.2%, while demand for international RPMs increased by 7.1%.
“In March, we reduced ASM in the Mexican domestic market, while reallocating capacity to the international market in preparation for the peak summer season. Throughout the quarter, we achieved a solid load factor, with a well-balanced market mix aimed to maximize profitability,” said Enrique Beltranena, President and CEO of Volaris.
