Volvo (VLVLY, VOLVF) sold a record 78,970 vehicles worldwide in March, up 25% compared to the same period last year, with all-electric sales up 66% year-on-year in Europe and Hybrid sales up 76% in US. they made up 23% of all cars sold in March.
In the first quarter, the company sold 182,687 cars, up 12% year over year. All-electric sales increased 27% in the first quarter, while hybrid sales fell 1%.
By region, vehicle sales increased 33% in Europe, 21% in China and 50% in the United States. Globally, sales of fully electric vehicles increased by 43% and hybrid sales by 8%.
The Volvo XC90 midsize luxury SUV was the best-selling vehicle in the United States, followed by the XC60 and XC40 SUVs.
