Ahead of the State of the Union, the White House laid out the President’s vision to protect and improve affordable health care and freedom for all.
Biden will highlight his health care agenda
“The President believes that health care is fair and not a privilege,” White House domestic policy adviser Neera Tanden said in a call with reporters.
Tanden said the president promises to protect Medicare, Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act. In his first three years, President Biden has accomplished more than most presidents accomplish in two terms.
“We are avoiding 1 million in surprise medical bills every week,” a senior administration official stressed in a call with reporters Wednesday before his State of the Union address.

Biden will focus on freedom in the State of the Union
The President’s speech will focus on freedoms that are being undermined, including the right to abortion and in vitro fertilization, as well as outline his work to make healthcare more accessible and his vision to apply the gains made with Medicare.
Healthcare will be the focus
- The President will say he wants to expand the $2,000 out-of-pocket limit to ALL AMERICANS:
– “When the $2,000 cap on prescription drugs is implemented under Medicare in 2025, nearly 19 million seniors and other beneficiaries are expected to save $400 a year on prescription drugs. The President is calling on Congress to extend the $2,000 cap to all private insurance so that all Americans have the peace of mind that comes from knowing they won’t have to choose between filling a prescription or putting food on their plate. table.”
- The President will call on Congress to continue the ACA tax credits:
“The President calls on Congress to make permanent the expanded premium tax credits that the Inflation Reduction Act extended. Without congressional action, millions of Americans will see their health insurance premiums increase by hundreds or thousands of dollars starting in the fall of 2025.”
- Lower Medicare prescription prices with some generic drugs to $2:
“Medicare will launch a new model to cap Medicare Part D cost-sharing for certain generic drugs at $2. As Medicare prepares to launch the model, HHS today released a list of dozens of generic drugs for the model, including drugs such as statins to treat high cholesterol, beta blockers for high blood pressure, and platelet inhibitors to prevent the formation of blood clots. In his budget, the President asks Congress to cap Medicare cost-sharing for high-value generic drugs at $2 for all Medicare plans.
While Donald Trump flaunts his muttered personal grievances before the nation as a presidential platform, President Joe Biden will highlight his work for the people during the State of the Union, which includes his work against Big Pharma, legislation for which no Republicans voted.
President Biden will outline an agenda for the American people in his State of the Union. The one unifying theme across all of Biden’s proposals is that he is trying to improve people’s lives. In contrast, Donald Trump is only focused on improving one life, and that’s his.
Republicans tried to deny Biden the State of the Union platform because when the two visions of America are placed side by side, only the president thinks of you.
