“White supremacist leader sentenced to 44 months in prison for conspiring to make death threats against Brooklyn journalist”

The Department of Justice reported yesterday:

Today, in federal court in Brooklyn, Nicholas Welker, also known as “King ov Wrath,” was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Pamela K. Chen to 44 months in prison for conspiracy to make death threats. Welker, the leader of the Feuerkrieg Division (“FKD”), a racially or ethnically motivated international violent extremist (“RMVE”) group, which translates to “War Fire,” issued death threats against a Brooklyn journalist (the “Journalist”) so that the Journalist would stop reporting on the neo-Nazi group….

According to court documents, Welker’s threat included a photograph of the reporter with a gun pointed at his head and the words “Race traitor” over the reporter’s eyes. The threat stated: “JOURNALIST F[***] WORN OUT! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.” The threat listed the journalist and his employer by name. Welker posted the threat on a public online forum. Two underage FKD members tweeted the death threat directly to the social media address of the reporter so he could see her. Welker intended to scare the reporter into giving up reporting on Welker’s hate group.

FKD members share the common goal of challenging laws, social order and government through terrorism and other violent acts. The organization encourages attacks against racial minorities, the Jewish community, the LGBTQ+ community, the US government, journalists, and critical infrastructure. The FKD has members in the United States and abroad.
